A George I walnut longcase clock by Burges of Gosport

The walnut crossbanded and featherbanded case with rectangular ogee moulded cornice above an arched door with pierced frets and parcel gilt pilasters, the 12" arched silvered dial with Roman and Arabic engraved numerals and calendar dial in the arch with wheatear border, subsidiary secondsand applied name plate signedJno Burges, Gosport,with pierced foliate spandrels, female masks and dolphins,the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike, the arched trunk with double moulded door above an ogee moulded waist and rectangular plinth base, 43cm wide, 21cm deep, 204cm high.
