Description
A late Victorian satinwood and polychrome painted open armchair in the manner of Wright & Mansfield The pierced shield shaped splat painted with flowers and acanthus leaves above downswept arms and bowed caned seat, on ring turned legs with spool feet, 56cm wide, 50cm deep, 95cm high. See F. Collard, Regency Furniture, London, 1985, p.235 for a similar painted satinwood chair by Wright and Mansfield and dated c.1880. Gillow & Co. also illustrate a very similar 'Satinwood Sheraton Chair' in their Estimate Sketch books, dated February 23rd 1877.
