A rare Victorian Provincial silver folding letter rack, incuse maker's mark of W.S, Chester, 1871, probably for William Smith of Liverpool

With six hinged bars each with a pierced rim and openwork onion dome top to fixed central bar, on a curved base with open sides and pierced on top with circular frames enclosing drop-shaped motifs centred by pierced quatrefoils, raised on four trefoil feet, 22.5cm wide, 20cm high, 9 oz. (279 gm.)
