A 19th century mahogany and gilt bronze mounted desk in the Empire style
The rectangular top with a three-quarter gallery mounted with finials and centred by tablet mounted by Wyvern's flanking a classical urn above a central frieze drawer and kneehole with foliate spandrel mounts and two short drawers to either side all flanked by foliate intwined thrysus mounts, on square section tapering legs with an accompanying desk chair, possibly by the same maker, the chairs shaped top-rail with a gilt bronze mount in the form of maidens flanking a floral filled urn, upholstered in black velvet with a padded back and seat with short downswept arms on slightly outswept square section legs, brass cappings and castors, the desk 134.5cm wide, 51cm deep, 84cm high, the chair 58cm wide, 51cm deep, 84cm high.
