    Arguably the pinnacle of Windsor chair design, but now quite rare, Gothic Windsors were made as elegant fashionable items of seat furniture in the first half and on into the second half of the 18th century. Gothic splat chairs, made in London and the Thames Valley, were considered to be the 'best' Windsor seating furniture since no examples have been recorded made in anything other than prized yew wood.
