Further information

WOW Architects, based in Singapore, commissioned Margaret to make these three pendent lights for their luxury hotel, St Regis Maldives. At the time Margaret was a Visiting Artist at Yanze Ceramics Design Studio attached to Jiangsu Gaochun Ceramics Co. Ltd, Nanjing, China. She threw the models there and then left for home.

Yanze Ceramics arranged the successful production of the lights with the factory. Maldive lights have also been installed in several other hospitality venues as well as in private homes.

Margaret O’Rorke is captivated by the quality of light diffused through the natural translucency of fine high-fired porcelain and bone china. She is inspired by the nature of forms that can grow from the potter’s wheel, as well as patterns in nature and light. Her innovative, revolutionary designs and work with cutting edge lighting technologies have caught the attention of leading galleries, collectors and clients worldwide. Her organic forms soften contemporary spaces and enhance classic environments.
