A 19th Century Parquetry Louis XV/XVI Transitional Style Side Table
Description
A fine late 19th century tulipwood and kingwood side table or table en chiffoniere inlaid with stained sycamore lines applied with gilt bronze mounts and an edging. The shaped oval top with projecting corners is above three drawers with gilt bronze escutcheons and flanked by uprights with gilt bronze mounts in the form of ram's heads with swagged garlands. The top and sizes are covered with fine parquetry work 360 degrees in the round as is the under-tier. The slender legs terminate in gilt bronze sabots. The internal drawer height is 5cm and the drawer depth is 24cm. The piece has a key which is of later date.
