The inspiration for this light sculpture originated many years ago. Margaret O’Rorke was in Osaka, Japan, high up in a dramatic skyscraper hotel looking down onto the crowded city below. It was the first time she had been in a skyscraper. When back home in her studio she thought, “what will happen if I throw a lot of cylinders, all different heights, just as I had seen from the skyscraper?”. Margaret joined the cylinders together and found a way to disguise a light inside. This is her own interpretation of Osaka as seen from above.
